HELP! MY ORB BALLOON LOOKS SQUARE!

If you're new to filling orb and foil balloons then you may be forgiven for thinking you've been sold a dud if your balloon looks square. You didn't buy a cube so you shouldn't have to put up with one!

Some facts about orb balloons

When people buy orb balloons they expect perfectly spherical balloons so here are a couple of facts that you should be aware of:

  1. All orb and foil balloons are manufactured with seams. These seams never disappear no matter how much you fill them. However, the horizontal creases will fade as you fill you balloon properly.

  2. If your balloon looks square then the likelihood is that you haven't filled it enough

Stop my balloon looking square

If you've just filled your balloon and you're wondering "why does my balloon look square" then have no fear, it's an easy fix.

The trick with orb balloons is to fill them until the horizontal creases disappear. Often people are nervous that their balloon will pop if they continue. The way to do it without bursting the seams is to vigorously fill your balloons until you reach the square balloon shape. After this point fill the balloon slowly. When filling with a balloon pump then pump using slow single pumping actions (literally one after the other). If filling with helium then fill with short bursts of helium.

It is possible to burst your balloon if its overfilled. As such, you should aim to fill your balloons just before the point at which the horizontal creases disappear altogether. Voila, your perfectly filled spherical balloon!
